IBM autonomic tech kit

Bangalore, Sept. 28

Autonomic computing is set to reduce IT administration costs by 40 per cent, and increase utilisation by 25 per cent, according to IBM. The company has tied up with a dozen Indian solution providers to bring this into software and solutions. IBM's autonomic technology (previously called eLiza) is an initiative to make computers self-managing. Based on open standards, it has been designed to let the human operator direct the system by setting policies and sitting back as the rules are applied and the system governs itself. "Autonomic computing has risen to the top of the IT agenda for businesses in India," said Mr R. Dhamodaran, Vice-President for ISV and Developer Relations, IBM India, in a release.
