Nautica designs largest bag

Our Bureau

Bangalore, Sept. 29

Global lifestyle brand Nautica claims to have designed and manufactured the world's largest shopping bag. The bag will be unveiled at Forum Mall, Bangalore on Saturday. Nautica has submitted an entry to the Guinness Book of World Records for producing the bag. Mr Sumeet Yadav, Business Head, Nautica, India, said, "Nautica is a larger-than-life global lifestyle brand. The world's largest Nautica store happens to be in Bangalore, so it seems only right to create the world's largest shopping bag right here." The 23 ft x 33 ft bag with a depth of 7ft and a handle measuring 14 ft in height has been made with drill cotton cloth. The bag, which is navy blue in colour with white lettering for the logo, was made in five days.

Nautica hopes to break the current record for the largest shopping bag, which is made of paper and measures 6 m high and 2.98 m wide. Miniatures of the bag will also be sold for charity and the proceeds will be donated to the Great Indian Dream Foundation, an NGO that supports the education of children from the slums.
