Outlook Marketing - New Products & Services Web Extras - Two/Three Wheelers Kinetic to launch 6 scooter models in 3 yrs Our Bureau
Ahmedabad , Sept. 29 Kinetic Motor Company Ltd is all set to launch six new Indo-Italian scooter models in the country and abroad in the next three years, Mr Ajinkya Firodia, Vice-President (Sales and Marketing), said on Friday. After launching the Rs 51,000 new model "Blaze", the first of the seven models that Kinetic acquired from the Italian major, Italjet Moto, last year, he told Business Line here that the remaining six models of the Italiano series, designed by Mr Leopoldo Tartarini, will be launched in a phased manner in the next three years or so. A family scooter, Euro, the second model after the 165-cc Blaze, is being launched in the next two to three months, he added. Mr Firodia pointed out that the company is expanding its market in the Far East and the South-East Asian countries such as Vietnam and Indonesia. As part of its strategy to recapture the scooter market, the company has also appointed about 50 new dealers across India. Kinetic has two manufacturing units at Pithampur near Indore and Ahmednagar near Pune. The Ahmednagar unit is also foraying into export of automobile components. Currently, Kinetic has no plans for any further expansion and was not in the SEZ race either, he added.
Blaze was already being exported to Japan and its next destinations include the US, Canada, Europe and Australia. In Gujarat, the company expected to sell 500 pieces this year and double that number the next year, Mr Firodia said, adding Blaze was already the third largest selling scooter in India.
He said Kinetic is the only two-wheeler company in India to provide customers with a complete range from 71 cc to 165 cc.
To tap the market in the current festive season, at the national level, he also unveiled a scheme to provide 10 to 20 litres of petrol for free to the new customers of various models.
