Flurys bags style award

Kolkata , Oct. 3

Flurys, the confectionery destination that is part of the Apeejay Surrendra Hotels Group, today received the LYCRA MTV Style Award for `The Most Stylish Place' in Kolkata. This is the first time that the award has moved out of Mumbai, according to MTV officials.

From a small pastry shop that opened its doors in 1927, Flurys has evolved from a tearoom to a popular destination for famous personalities who have defined style in many defining aspects. "Apart from having a distinct character of its own, Flurys has withstood the vagaries of time and has been a breeding ground for style and stylish people. We are, therefore, delighted to recognise it as the most stylish place in Kolkata," Mr Asish Patil, V-P (Creative & Content), MTV India, said.

Mr Vijay Dewan, MD of Apeejay Surrendra Hotels, said that Flurys could rightfully take credit in popularising fine European traditional confections and to many generations.

Only two years ago, the famous destination on Park Street was renovated to give it a world-class contemporary technology and look. "The award is a modern-day recognition for a real style icon with enhanced heritage."
