Pune , Oct. 4 Frantic parents panicking about delayed school bus bringing the child back home, oil companies suffering huge losses due to pilferage and managements of BPOs worrying about the safety of their employees returning home after late-night shifts may soon be a thing of the past. The telematics solution provider, Taco MobiApps Telematics (TMT) is now transforming itself into a solutions providing company with a range of custom-developed solutions for segments ranging from mining, schools, BPOs and the oil industry. The company has already deployed its vehicle tracking solution, trako, at schools such as Delhi Public School in Delhi and five other schools, including one in Bangalore, which allows parents to track the progress of the school bus on its way home. Using radio frequency readers and swipe cards, the company is now adding value by planning to allow children to log in their attendance as soon as they board the bus. "By November this year we plan to roll out solutions for schools across the country," Mr Ramesh Narain, Chief Operating Officer, TMT, said here. The company has also started a pilot deployment at an iron-ore mine in the Hospet-Bellary belt, where it is helping the mining company to track the movement of drivers carrying material within the mine. The company has also tied up with Lucas Service Centres, where it will position its staff to provide services to users of vehicle tracking devices. The company is, meanwhile, fine-tuning its solutions for the BPO industry, where its on-board devices can now help companies not just ensure safety of its employees but also save costsHalf-a-dozen BPOs are already using the company's solutions, including AXA Bangalore, which recently reported savings of Rs nine lakhs/month in their fleet management and fuel costsTMT, meanwhile, has piloted projects with Indian Oil Corporation and Bharat Petroleum Corporation, whereby sensor devices on the lids of oil transporting tankers actually allowed the two companies to track the vehicle and prevent pilferage. Unauthorised handling of the lids set off alerts that get logged and allow the companies to track the event, Mr Narain said, adding that the solutions are now being used by joint venture partner, the Singapore-based MobiApps Holdings Pte Ltd in West Asian markets in the middle east. TMT is a joint venture between Tata Autocomp Systems Ltd and MobiApps Holdings Pte.
