Readymade Garments States - Andhra Pradesh Web Extras - Infrastructure Brandix Apparel Phase I makes financial closure Our Bureau
Hyderabad , Oct. 5 The first phase of the Brandix Apparel Park coming up at Visakhapatnam has achieved financial closure. Barring environmental clearances, the necessary approvals for the proposed textile special economic zone planned by the Sri Lankan firm Brandix have received Central Government approval. At a meeting here today, the Chief Executive Officer of Brandix Lanka Ltd, Mr Ashraff Omar, said that the works have been initiated with an initial outlay of Rs 150 crore after the approval for Textile Park was received from the Central Government. The Chief Minister, Dr Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, who reviewed the progress of the project today with the promoters and other senior officials, urged the company management to expedite the project and step up employment opportunities. The Brandix India Apparel City project is coming up in a 1,000-acre site near Visakhapatnam. The advertisements for the pre-qualification of contractors for infrastructure and factory buildings have been issued and architects appointed, and a 14-member team has been deployed at Vizag. The construction work will commence once the Centre accords environmental clearances. According to a statement from the Chief Minister's Office, Mr Omar said that six reputed firms have become shareholders of the project.
The project envisages an overall investment of up to Rs 5,000 crore.
