TI Cycles enters fitness equipment biz

TI Cycles of India, one of the largest bicycle manufacturers, has announced the launch of fitness equipment marketing business by opening seven `BSA Go' stores in the country.

Announcing the launch, Mr G. Ramprasad, President, TI Cycles, told presspersons on Thursday that the company has set up seven stores, two each in Delhi and Chennai and one each in Bangalore, Ahmedabad and Thirussur. The number would be scaled to up 20 in six months to garner a sizeable market share.

With this, the company aims to garner 20 per cent market share of the Rs 300-crore fast-growing home segment by ensuring a turnover of Rs 50 crore in three years.

He said the full range of the fitness equipment, which were being sourced from Taiwan and other places, would be available in the country by next year. The new range is targeted at the fitness-conscious urbanites.

The BSA workouts range consist of Exerciser Cycles, Recumbent Bike, Elliptical Trainer, Motorised Treadmill and the Home Gym with a price tag ranging from Rs 20,000 to Rs 1.5 lakh.

To a question, he said the company would think of manufacturing the equipment if the business picks up in the next few years.
