Our Bureau

Chennai, Oct. 5

Aircel Cellular Ltd is in the process of rolling out its service in Himachal Pradesh and Bihar as part of its plan to establish a national presence, according to Mr K.V.P. Bhaskar, Chief Executive Officer, Aircel.

Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, Aircel, which has reached a subscriber base of over 30 lakh, is continuously expanding its presence. It is now present in nine circles including Chennai, Tamil Nadu and the North East.

In Tamil Nadu, Aircel's mobile service, which is currently available in 700 towns, will soon extend to 1,000 towns by the year-end. Following the acquisition of Aircel by the Malaysia-based Maxis Communications Berhad, there has been a steady sharing of technology and close collaboration, Mr Bhaskar said.

As Aircel has reached a subscriber base in excess of 30 lakh, the company announced that its subscribers would get free talk time (Aircel-to-Aircel) between noon and 3 p.m. today.
