Crompton Greaves: On MAT worry?

The stock of Crompton Greaves has been gaining ground on the bourses on talk of strong fundamentals. The stock has appreciated by almost 7 per cent week-on-week and 18.26 per cent month-on-month. It closed at Rs 255.50 on the BSE on Thursday.

A strong order book plus its recent acquisition has seen the stock buzzing on the bourses in the recent past. However, analysts add a note of caution in that the company is likely to see an increase in its tax outgo on account of it moving out of the MAT rate regime and into the normal tax rate slab from the first quarter of the financial year 2007.

The company is reportedly looking at a turnover of Rs 5,300 crore on a consolidated basis during the financial year 2007.
