It is looking to enter cities such as Pune, Ahmedabad and Kochi.
Bangalore , Oct. 6 Two years after its foray into India, premium lifestyle brand Tommy Hilfiger is ready for expansion. Its target is to open 20-25 flagship stores and reach a turnover of Rs 150 crore in two years. It is also in talks with key department stores such as Pantaloons and Shoppers' Stop to expand its retail presence. The Rs 45-crore company currently has nine flagship stores across Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Chandigarh. It is looking to enter cities such as Pune, Ahmedabad and Kochi. In India, the Murjani Group is the master licensee for the Tommy Hilfiger brand. The group has sub-licensing relationships with several Indian companies for the various categories of Tommy Hilfiger Arvind Murjani Brands for apparel, Titan Industries for watches, Baccarose for perfume, Eastman Clothing for underwear, Sierra Industries for footwear and Sterling Metaplast for eyewear. "The company is evaluating the possibility of launching its range of work-wear in India. It is also looking to strengthen its kids' apparel line and denim wear range in the country," said Mr Shailesh Chaturvedi, CEO, Tommy Hilfiger India. The company recently launched leather bags and accessories in India.
Media presence
Tommy Hilfiger also plans to ramp up its media presence, especially for its fall-winter '06 collection. Mr Chaturvedi said Tommy Hilfiger is one of the largest spenders in the apparel industry on advertising (print and outdoors) and a significant portion of the company's expenditure goes into media spends. He, however, declined to divulge any figures. Music is an integral part of the brand's image. Tommy Hilfiger is involved in encouraging and promoting music talent and organising performances. Singers Enrique Iglesias and Beyonce Knowles are the faces of its perfume range. For the launch of the fall-winter collection '06 in India, Tommy Hilfiger brought in British drummer Hugo Degenhardt to Bangalore.
