Rupee gains

Our Bureau

Mumbai, Oct. 6

The rupee gained against the dollar on the back of good supplies. "Some of the software companies were seen selling dollars," said a dealer at a private bank.

The home currency opened at 45.66 and ended at 45.59, six paise higher than Thursday's 45.65. "The sentiment looks positive for the rupee," said the dealer. The market, however, awaits the non-farm payroll data of the US, which will hint at the direction of dollar against the rupee.

In forwards, the six-month premium closed at 1.32 per cent (1.38 per cent) and the 12-month ended at 1.36 per cent (1.40 per cent).
