Hyderabad , Oct. 8 Globe 7, part of Northgate Technologies Ltd, has launched its enhanced version of Globe 7 softphone, with SMS and video streaming features. Globe 7 now has users across 187 countries accounting for over 20 million downloads. The Chief Executive Officer of Globe 7, Mr Venkat Meenavalli, told Business Line, "Globe 7 stretches across several Internet platforms, and is available for hardware manufactures to spread the application into wireless world of communication and infotainment. Near future plans include porting Globe 7 into Linux and Mac." The advantage of using the Voice Over Internet Platforms and the ability to make cheaper calls is drawing more users to a service provider like Globe 7. To this, video streaming features have been added. This has also become some sort of a community, which can be reached by advertisers, he said.
Patented app
The patented hybrid softphone application provides users with the ability to call any landline or mobile phone across the world at a low price. Users can purchase vouchers online or enjoy free calling by just watching their favourite video clips. With new integrated features, telephone users can also send free SMS messages to any international destination from Globe 7 directly. Its new feature, MyChannel, allows users to upload their own videos and share them with friends.
The Version 5.0 provides both communication and entertainment on PCs and is powered with premier media content from AP, Reuters, Media Corp, FTV and Travel Channel among others. All content is streamed in association with Akamai.
The company is witness to thousands of downloads a day. Globe 7 soft phone, developed by Northgate Technologies Ltd, is marketed by Axill Europe Ltd, also part of Northgate.
