Education States - Andhra Pradesh BL Club launched in Vijayawada Our Bureau
Vijayawada , Oct. 8 Students of business administration and management should draw lessons from the Mahabharata and the Ramayana, and the Indian mythologies, as the classics are relevant even in the present context, Prof. V. Balamohana Das, Vice-Chancellor of Acharya Nagarjuna University, has said. He was speaking at a function in the Andhra Loyola College here on Saturday morning after inaugurating the Hindu- Business Line Club. Delivering a lecture on leadership qualities , he said discourses of Bhishma on his deathbed contain valuable tips for management students. He also explained to the students the symbolic significance of the strange form of Vinayaka and its relevance to management principles. Citing a study conducted by technocrat Sam Pitroda in Maruti Udyog, the Vice-Chancellor said Indians, in general, were deficient in teamwork, though individually they were excellent. Future managers should focus on the area, he said. Mr M.C Das, a management consultant, explained to the students the essentials of effective communication and exhorted them to shun artificiality and phoney sophistication. "Clarity of thought and simplicity of expression are the salient features of effective communication," he said. Mr M. Krishna Kiran, Regional General Manager of The Hindu, Vijayawada, welcomed the guests. Mr V.V. Raja Rao, deputy General Manager, proposed a vote of thanks.
