A team of experts from the Centre has developed a plan to contain the spread of chikungunya in Kerala in 10 days.

Dr P.L. Joshi, Director, National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme, announced this at a press conference in the city. The plan lays emphasis on containing the spread of the disease through a programme to eradicate the Aedes aegypti mosquito, which spreads the chikungunya virus.

The key aspect of the mosquito eradication drive is to prevent the mosquito from breeding by destroying the places in which mosquitoes breed.
