`Globelics India 2006' in State capital

The conference provided an opportunity for the country's corporate sector and the policy makers to interact with leading economists and management professionals across the world.

Thiruvananthapuram , Oct. 8

The country's outstanding success in managing globalisation as evident from high economic growth with stability and its emergence as a dominant player in some of the knowledge intensive sectors holds many lessons for other developing countries.

However, the challenge of sustaining competitiveness remains, observed academicians from across the world attending `Globelics India 2006', the annual international conference organised by the Centre for Development Studies (CDS) Thiruvananthapuram, in association with the Indian Institute of Management-Bangalore.

TECH TIE-UPS

Given the technological capabilities built up over the years by some of the developing countries such as Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa (BRICS) and others, there is scope for fostering technological partnerships among these countries, Globelics organisers told presspersons here.

In this context, Globelics 2006 explored the possibilities of building new technological bridges in South-South cooperation. Comparative analysis of the experience of China and India in learning innovation and competence building was a special highlight.

MAIN FOCUS

Globelics is the acronym for Global Network for Economics of Learning, Innovation, and Competence Building Systems. Its main focus was innovation systems for competitiveness and shared prosperity in developing countries.
