Opinion - Letters
Rashtrapati Bhavan clarifies

This is with reference to "President sets ominous precedent" (Business Line, October 10). The article appears to be based on mere conjecture and not based on facts. A large number of people from all strata of society have been meeting the President of India every day and no such request for appointment is turned down except for valid reason.

All the people given appointments, as a normal courtesy, are served with refreshments prior to their meeting with the President. And it may be noted that this is not the first time people have met the President in the context of persons sentenced to death by courts.

S. M. Khan

Press Secretary to the President

Rashtrapati Bhavan

New Delhi
