Canara Bank on financial inclusion drive

Canara Bank, the convener of the State Level Bankers Committee in Kerala, has completed financial inclusion of two wards in Thiruvananthapuram district.

The bank has taken the initiative to implement the financial inclusion programme of the Centre, which has now fully been achieved in Palakkad district.

Widening access

While declaring the completion of the programme in Athiyannor and Parasala wards here on Wednesday, the Chairman and Managing Director of Canara Bank, Mr M.B.N. Rao, said that the programme envisaged bringing 41 per cent of the country's population who did not have access to organised financial sector, to the banking fold.

NEED-BASED LOANS

The programme also sought to extend need-based loan facilities to all families who deserved credit, he said.

Mr Rao distributed 100 general credit cards on the occasion.
