Cooper Ind, Patton sign pact

Cooper Industries of the US, a global manufacturer of electrical products and tools, has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Patton International Ltd of Kolkata, whereby the latter will manufacture electrical switch boxes, electrical fittings, stamping parts and various other products for supply to the former.

The products will be manufactured to technical specifications of the US partner. The MoU was signed here on Tuesday by the two companies in the presence of the West Bengal Chief Minister, Mr Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Paul R. Dawley, Director of Strategic Sourcing and Logistics, Cooper Industries, said the company has its operations globally and employs 29,000 people globally.

Manufacturing Products

The electrical products manufactured by Patton would mostly be marketed in North America. At a later stage, the scope of the tie-up could well be extended to manufacturing products for the Indian market too.

Mr Sanjay Budhia, Managing Director of Patton International, said the products would be manufactured at the company's facility located at the Falta Export Processing Zone. The tie-up would entail an initial investment of Rs 25 crore and generate employment for 200-250 people to begin with.
