New Delhi , Oct. 11 Gujarat-based Zydex Industries Ltd today launched its first construction chemical product Zycosil for use in waterproofing of buildings. The product was indigenously developed by two chemical scientists Dr Ajay I Ranka and Mr Prakash Mehta, the Chief Executive Officer and the President of the company, respectively. Launching the product Dr Ranka said that it is one of the biggest scientific breakthrough in waterproofing industry for the mass market. "We have already received an order worth $4 lakh from North America," he said and explained that Zycosil creates water repellence by nano level hydrophobation making it far superior than conventional film formers. It is an organo silicon based nano size eco-friendly chemical soluble in water and can be applied by an ordinary brush on the surface straightaway and satisfy the Volatile Organic Content standards of California, he said. He said that the product cost ranges from Rs 1.50 to Rs 2 per square feet and can be used in new as well as old buildings. The product has been innovated by the two scientists themselves and the patent coverage for the technology has been secured on a worldwide basis, he said.
