Bond prices fall

Our Bureau

Mumbai, Oct. 11

Bond prices fell by about eight paise on Wednesday as investors sold to invest in fresh auctions. Traded volumes on the order-matching system were Rs 2,620 crore (Rs 3,280 crore).

Dealers said that prices dropped tracking the rise in the yields of US T-Bills. "The consumer price index is also seen rising, marking a bearish trend in the bonds market," said a dealer at a private bank.

The 7.59 per cent 10-year 2016 benchmark paper opened at Rs 99.79 (7.62 per cent YTM) and closed at Rs 99.74 (7.63 per cent YTM). The 9.39 per cent five-year 2011 paper opened at Rs 107.60 (7.44 per cent YTM) and closed at Rs 107.64 (7.43 per cent YTM) against Tuesday's Rs 107.72 (7.42 per cent YTM).
