Coimbatore co bids for Lanka tender

L.N. Revathy

Coimbatore , Oct. 11

The Coimbatore-based Kasabah Systems Software, the IT division of the Chennai-based Krishna Industrial Corporation (KIC), has submitted its proposal for a global tender in Sri Lanka on Student Information System (SIS).

KIC's Managing Director, Dr S.R.K. Prasad, told Business Line that his was the only Indian company among the eight participants for the tender, the rest being from Sri Lanka.

"We have submitted our SIS proposal for Open University of Sri Lanka. It is an Asian Development Bank-funded project. We are working through a local Sri Lanka company," he said and expressed confidence about being awarded this contract.

According to him, Kasabah's SIS more than met the specifications sought in the tender. "They have asked for five site preferences. We have 12," he said.

The company recently got the sign off for implementing its University Management System - `Genius' at the Asian Institute of Medicine, Science and Technology in Malaysia. The IT division of KIC recently bagged an order for the `Stock Control Model' of its other product - `Scorpio' - a financial package. "We are targeting the markets abroad," Dr Prasad said.
