Investments States - Karnataka Mangalore better place to invest, says Govt Our Bureau
MR B.S. YEDIYURAPPA
Mangalore , Oct. 12 After the members of trade and industry in Mangalore expressing confidence about attracting more investments to the region in spite of the recent violent incidents, now it is the turn of the Karnataka Government to instil confidence among investors. Addressing presspersons here on Thursday, the Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister, Mr B.S. Yediyurappa, said investors do not have to worry about the recent incidents in Mangalore. "They won't get better facilities and conditions in any other place than that exist in Mangalore. The region has created a good opinion all over the country," he said. Mangalore has become the second choice for investments after Bangalore, he said. However, he requested the people of the region not to give scope for any violent incidents. Mr Yediyurappa said that the recent incident in Mangalore was blown out of proportion. The Chief Minister, Mr H.D. Kumaraswamy, said that he and Mr Yediyurappa have met the people affected in the recent violent incidents, and collected information from them. Even the officials have been consulted in this regard. He said that he will discuss the issue with the Karnataka Home Minister, Mr M.P. Prakash, and Mr Yediyurappa in Bangalore and come out with a decision. Mr Yediyurappa blamed the Opposition Congress party for the recent developments in the region. "They do not want development and peace in the State," he said. The Karnataka Government will take a delegation, comprising both the Chief Minister and the Deputy Chief Minister, to the President and the Prime Minister and apprise them of the situation. Asked if the Government will order for a judicial probe in the recent incidents, he said there is no necessity for such a probe. The district administration has handled the situation effectively. Stating that no organisation will be banned in the State, he said their activities would be monitored thoroughly.
