Cartoon Network's concept contest

Our Bureau

Hyderabad, Oct. 12

Cartoon Network has announced an animation concept competition titled Snaptoons (Short New Asia Pacific Cartoons), seeking `pitches' (story ideas) targeting the kids from writers, artists, amateurs and professionals. The entertainment channel would pick 10 interesting concepts and develop them into full pilot episodes, Mr Ian Diamond, Senior Vice-President, and General Manager of Turner Entertainment Networks Asia Inc, said.

Announcing the details of the competition at a press conference here on Wednesday, he said the idea was to provide a platform for the creative talent in India and to launch them on the international animation scene. Those who could draw could send in their concepts with sketches. Those who couldn't draw could just send in the synopsis. The company would help them develop the basic proposals. The 10 selected proposals could be converted into full-fledged series at a later stage.
