Hyderabad , Oct. 12

An eco-park with an investment of Rs 16 crore is planned in Kadapa, the home district of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, by the Andhra Pradesh Forest Development Corporation (APFDC).

To be located about 57 kms from Kadapa town and 12 kms from Vempalli on the Vempalli-Rayachoti road, the Park would come up in the Idupulapaya Reserve Forest block. It would have three components to it.

A botanical garden spread over 50 hectares and costing Rs 8.40 crore would house about 3,000 species.

A Bird Park on a 5 hectare area with investment of Rs 60 lakh and a herbivore, deer safari park and fodder plot in 90 hectares at a cost of Rs 3.31 crore would be the three components, according to an official press release.

Action Initiated

The common infrastructure would cost Rs 1.45 crore and base camp amenities about Rs 2.20 crore. In addition 10 ethnic cottages, restaurant, 50 bedded dormitory, and open amphitheatre are proposed at the base camp, the release said.

The Chief Minister, who received this proposal from the APFDC, has directed the Corporation to take up this project on its own instead of adopting the PPP mode and initiate action to complete it within two years. He wanted a detailed road map of the project to be made within one week.
