Singapore Airlines reduces fuel surcharge

Our Bureau

New Delhi , Oct. 13

Singapore Airlines (SIA) has announced that it would be reducing the fuel surcharge payable by a passenger.

In a statement, the airline has said that a passenger flying between India and Singapore would now be charged $54 per sector instead of $60 charged earlier. The reduced fuel surcharge would be applicable on tickets sold on or after October 14.

Similarly, on the Singapore-US route a passenger would be charged $ 82 per sector instead of $90.

The airline has said that the reduction was being implemented due to a decline in the prices of jet fuel in the last few weeks.

Earlier this week, the German airline Lufthansa also announced a reduction in the fuel surcharge that a passenger had to pay for long-haul flights.

Several international airlines had increased the fuel surcharge following the northward movement in global oil prices.
