Israel has called for doubling of bilateral trade volumes with India to $5 billion by next year.
Addressing a meeting on `Focus on Agricultural Technology Mission' here on Thursday, Mr David Danieli, Ambassador of Israel, said there was no magic wand for developing the relations. He said the opportunities were not tapped to the full potential, highlighting the need for forging joint ventures.
The seminar was organised by the Federation of Andhra Pradesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FAPCCI) and Indo-Israel Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
While stating that Israel had achieved a lot in certain sectors, he admitted that those technologies were not affordable to the Indian farmers. One solution to address this problem was to shift production lines of Israeli companies to India.
Leveraging the advantages of being in India, the Israeli companies could offer the products at cheaper rates. Andhra Pradesh could be a good option for such companies to set up their manufacturing bases, he said.
Asking the chambers of commerce to be a focal point for interaction between the players from the two countries, the Israeli Ambassador cited the examples of the initiatives in Orissa, West Bengal and Maharasthra.
An Israeli delegation would be deputed to India soon to discuss opportunities in irrigation, agriculture and semiconductors, he added.
