Reddy firm on IMGB land cancellation

Our Bureau

Hyderabad , Oct. 15

The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, Dr Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, has asserted that the State Government would not give in to arm-twisting and that it would protect its interests at any cost.

Reacting to the threats held out by IMG Academies Bharata that it would move the court on cancellation of the land allotment to it, the Chief Minister told reporters here that he had made it clear to Mr David C. Mulford, US Ambassador to India, that there would not be any problem if bona fides were clear and correct. "If anyone tries to cheat the Government, we would do all to protect our interests," he said.

The previous Government had allotted 855 acres of land to IMGB, allegedly at a very low rate, to set up a sports academy.

The Congress Government cancelled the deal and decided to order a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation.
