Technology meet for the deaf

Pollachi-based Dr Mahalingam College of Engineering and Technology (MCET) in association with the Deaf Empowerment Activities For Literacy Education Accessible Development Employment Rehabilitation and Sports (DEAF LEADERS), Coimbatore is planning to organise the first International Conference on Innovative Technologies and education of the deaf between January 5 and 7 in its campus.

The conference aims to provide a platform for educators, researchers, parents of deaf children, teachers, social workers, speech therapists, audiologists, sociologists, psychologists, linguists and other professionals to share their knowledge and experience and finding solutions to their problems. Mr Alok Kejriwal, Advisor, DEAF LEADERS and Co-Chairman of the organising committee of India Deaf Expo 2006 said the conference would aim to extend professional support to the deaf community.
