Vanilco unveils new products

Kochi, Oct. 17

Vanilla India Producer Company (Vanilco), wholly owned by vanilla farmers, has introduced vanicoloda syrup and vanilla supreme ice cream, which contains natural vanilla essence, in the market. "We are launching these two new and environment-friendly products in the market in the backdrop of increasing awareness about the impact of synthetic vanillin," Mr Paul Jose, Managing Director of Vanilco, said.

The products are targeted at star hotels, prominent super markets and bakers. The ice creams would be available in five, 10 and 25e litre packs. The vanicoloda cocktail made from 50 ml of ice cream, 10 ml of vanicoloda syrup and 30 mil of white rum is very popular in Mexico, Mr Jose added.

Vanilco is also in talks with cooperatives such as Amul, Milma and others to increase the use of natural vanilla in the manufacture of ice creams. Mr Jose demanded that the Government should take steps to restrict the free import of synthetic vanillin into the country.
