Kontak's `spring easy' brand gets patent

Company expects a turnover of Rs 22 crore this fiscal

Pune , Oct. 17

Kontak Comforts, part of the Uma group of companies, has been granted a patent for its `spring easy' brand of rubberised coir mattress by the patent office of the Government of India.

Mr Kundan Z. Kankaria, Managing Director of Kontak Comforts Pvt Ltd, said that the development would fuel the company's growth momentum and help it to cater to a larger market with a wider range of products. "The patent reflects our commitment of bringing new and innovative products to our consumers many of whom are institutions as well as retail from time to time."

More showrooms

Kontak has four showrooms in Pune and two in Ahmednagar and has firmed up plans to open ten more in the State in the third quarter. Mr Madan Z. Kankaria, Chairman of Uma Group, said, "The sleepeezzee showrooms will be a one-stop shop for a range of home and bedroom designer accessories. Each showroom will also have a doctor for free physical check up of potential buyer and to recommend right designer mattress."

Besides the retail foray, the company has bagged orders worth Rs 3 crore from institutions, the Government, defence, hospitals and the hospitality sectors, he said. The company's plant is located in Wadgaon Amli, in Ahmednagar District.

KCPL is a wholly owned subsidiary of Uma Precision Ltd, a manufacturer and exporter of precision assemblies, systems and machined parts for auto and electrical industry.
