`Platform for innovators to exhibit for a select audience'

Innovators' platform
The innovation can be a product, process, design, method or a business model; it, however, has to be in the market for at least a year
Innovators will present their creations, the process, its technical and other details, all within a time span of six minutes

Pune , Oct. 17

TiE (The IndUS Entrepreneurs) and the Pune Chapter of IITBAA (IIT Bombay Alumni Association) are jointly organising Innovations 2007, a platform to showcase innovations already in practice.

Addressing presspersons, Ms Pratima Kirloskar, President, TiE Pune Chapter, said the event is being launched as a platform for innovators from around the world to pitch and exhibit for a select audience.

Presentation

The innovators would present their creations, the process, its technical details, the domain and the impact it has had on the market, all within a time span of six minutes. She noted that the innovation could be a product, process, design, method or a business model but has to be in the market for at least a year.

The domain could be any field - engineering, medical, bio-technical, IT, agricultural, financial and mass impact social entrepreneurship. She said a panel of ten experts have been chosen from various domains to review the nominations, which would have to meet the criteria - in the market place for at least a year and should be able to present the innovation in person.

The last date for receiving the nominations is November 10 after which the scrutiny would begin and by the first week of December, the selection process would be completed.

From then on to the end of the year, the presentations would be refined and the event would be held on January 6, 2007.

Filing nominations

Ms Pratima said the innovators could log on to www.iitbombay.org/

innovations2007 or www.tiepune.org for filing the nominations. She said about 160 people in various fields such as venture funds, financial institutions, research and development heads, academia and corporates are expected to take part in this function which would help take the innovations to the next step. She said about 15 shortlisted nominations would be showcased to the invited audience.

The single track event would start with the keynote address of Dr Gururaj Deshpande, a technology entrepreneur, and would have Mr Arun Shourie to conclude the event with an `India perspective', she added.
