Readymade Garments Kewal Kiran net at Rs 7.3 cr Our Bureau
Mumbai , Oct. 17 Kewal Kiran Clothing Ltd has reported a profit after tax of Rs 7.26 crore for the second quarter ended September 30. Sales stood at Rs 42.11 crore. Figures for the corresponding quarter of the previous year are not available as the company's shares were listed on the BSE in April this year. "Our sales have increased on an expansion in our design range. Knitwear, for example had a much larger range this quarter," said Mr Nikesh Jain, Chief Financial Officer, Kewal Kiran Clothing Ltd. EBITDA (Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation) for the second quarter stood at Rs 10.09 crore. Earnings per share stood at Rs 5.89. "We have retained our EBIDTA margins but PAT (profit after tax) levels have increased from other income (interest)," said Mr Jain.
Expanding range
During the quarter, the company commenced commercial production at its expanded facility in Daman. It plans to manufacture 4 million garments per annum by 2008. Currently it is 2.7 million pieces yearly. Kewal Kiran's shares fell by 1.79 per cent to close at Rs 246.95 on the BSE.
