Goa signs MoU with RBI

Mumbai , Oct. 17

The Goa Government has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Reserve Bank of India for strengthening the working of the urban cooperative banks in the State.

Following this, a State Level Task Force for Urban Cooperative Banks has been set up with the Regional Director of RBI as the Chairman and the Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Goa, as the Co-chairman, according to an RBI release.

As per the MoU, the RBI would assess the training and computerisation needs of the urban cooperative banks in Goa with the objective of upgrading their technological infrastructure and human resources skills. This would help the cooperative banks improve their efficiency and quality of management information systems.

Vision document

The RBI, in its mid-term review of the annual policy in October 2004, had announced the preparation of a vision document for the development of urban cooperative banks.
