Blue Star: Betting on infrastructure boom

K.S. Badri Narayanan

The Blue Star stock has been witnessing steady pick up in volume as well as value. It closed a shade better at Rs 138.05 on the BSE with about 61,000 shares changing hands against its two-week average of 13,200 shares.

According to brokers, traders are expecting a good show for the second quarter on account of infrastructure boom. The company, apart from having strong presence in central air-conditioning system business, has also wide range of refrigeration products such as freezers, cold storages, water-coolers etc. According to traders, the company is strongly placed to ride on the wave of infrastructure development that is happening especially in IT/ITES, retail and entertainment and cold chain sectors. Market participants are also expecting some positive announcements from the company on the order front, particularly on the supermarket front.

Corporate majors such as Reliance, Fortune, Bhartis and Tatas are betting big on retail industry. It may be recalled that Blue Star recently entered into an agreement with ISA of Italy for supermarket refrigeration.
