Opinion - Letters
Social welfare

Poverty is being widely discussed at international forums, including the UN. In this context, it is important that the coverage of data relating to poor should be increased, and its reliability ensured, to better manage the problem of global poverty.

In the Indian context, in particular, it is unfortunate that there is no social welfare for poor people above 60 years of age, who should be taken care of by the government, as in many Western countries. There should be more creative thinking on this issue at the government level.
