Kolkata , Oct 26

Ghansyam Sarda, brother of jute baron Govinda Sarda, an accused in the supply of post-expiry date blood kits to blood banks in the city, was arrested at the Netaji Subash Chandra Bose International airport here on Thursday, moments before he was to board an aircraft for New Delhi.

Ghansyam Sarda had bought an air-ticket under a false name and was about to board a Jet Airways flight to New Delhi when he was arrested at the airport. He was the Managing Director of Govind Sarda's Monozyne India Pvt Ltd, a Secunderabad-based company, from April 2005 to July 2006 when nearly 92,000 faulty kits were supplied to eight blood banks in Kolkata, police said.
