Sharp dip in spot rubber

Domestic rubber prices declined on Friday. Sharp falls in global futures initiated the selling spree in the main marketing centres and terminals.

On the physical front, Sheet rubber RSS 4 moved down to Rs 92.00 a kg from Rs 93.00 a kg at Kottayam and Kochi following the off loading from dealers. The volumes were comparatively better.

Futures slip

The rubber futures weakened reflecting the overall sentiments but recovered the initial losses towards the end of the session. On NMCE, the near month November contract downed the shutters at Rs 88.81 (Rs 89.31), December contract at Rs 84.75 (Rs 84.50), January at Rs 84.30 (Rs 84.56 ) and February at Rs 86.01 (Rs 86.23 ) per kg for RSS 4.

The November futures for RSS 3 fell to 216.9 (Rs 82.72) a kg from 224.4 a kg at TOCOM. The grade weakened to Rs 84.42 from Rs 85.16 a kg at Bangkok spot.

Spot rubber prices per kg were, RSS-4 Rs 92.00 (Rs 93.00), RSS-5 Rs 89.00 (Rs 89.50), ungraded Rs 85.00 (Rs 86.00), ISNR 20 Rs 88.00 (Rs 88.50) and latex 60 percent Rs 61.05 (Rs 61.05).
