BHEL Q2 net up 38%

Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd, the country's largest power equipment supplier, announced a growth of 38.35 per cent in its net profit to Rs 360.01 crore for the second quarter ending September 30, 2006, as against Rs 260.16 crore for the corresponding quarter the previous year. The state-run engineering major also reported a growth of 31.48 per cent in its turnover, from 2,787.8 crore for the corresponding quarter last fiscal to Rs 3,665.4 crore this year. Gross profit increased by 32.8 per cent to Rs 612.7 crore (Rs 461.4 crore). BHEL has an order book position of Rs 45,700 crore as per September 30, 2006.
