Spot rubber remains static

The week opened with static quotes in spot rubber. Market activities were in a low pace as the overseas markets were not encouraging. The market sustained as there were no quantity sellers since the inflow was extremely tight amidst intermittent rains.

Sheet rubber closed unchanged at Rs 92 a kg both at Kottayam and Kochi as on Saturday. The rubber futures finished firm on NMCE. The last traded price for November contracts was quoted at Rs 89.91 (Rs 88.87), December Rs 84.55 (Rs 84.53), January Rs 84.30 (Rs 84.31) and February at Rs 86.36 (Rs 85.87) per kg for RSS 4. The trading volumes were dull at 993 tonnes. The open interest in November was 1,633 (1,641) lots, December 1,385 (1,464) lots, January 779 (775) lots and February 299 (285) lots. The November futures for RSS 3 weakened to 215.7 yen (Rs 82.76) a kg from 216.9 yen a kg at TOCOM. The spot prices per kg were: RSS-4: Rs 92 (Rs 92); RSS-5: Rs 89 (Rs 89); Ungraded: Rs 85 (Rs 85); ISNR 20: Rs 88 (Rs 88) and Latex 60 per cent: Rs 61.05 (Rs 61.05).
