Trading MMTC turnover grows 65 pc in H1 Our Bureau
New Delhi , Nov. 1 MMTC, the largest global trading company of the country, has logged 65 per cent growth in business volume during the first half of the current fiscal, with a turnover of Rs 11,253 crore against Rs 6,802 crore during the corresponding period of the previous fiscal. A company release issued here said that the total turnover of Rs 11,253 crore for April to September 2006, includes exports of Rs 1,456 crore, domestic trade of Rs 826 crore and import of Rs 8,971 crore. With this business volume, the company is confident of crossing the annual turnover of Rs 23,000 crore in the current fiscal for the first time in its history spanning over four decades. During the period under review, MMTC posted net profit after tax of Rs 58.31 crore, which is 8 per cent higher over the profits earned by the company during the corresponding period in the last fiscal. The company's net worth rose to Rs 890 crore, with zero long-term debt. The earnings per share were Rs 11.66, which on an annualised basis works out to Rs 23.32 per share of face value of Rs 10 each.
