M&M tractor Oct sales up 18%

Our Bureau

Mumbai , Nov. 1

Mahindra & Mahindra's tractor division has posted record sales of 13,017 units in October, an increase of 18 per cent against 11,051 units in the corresponding period last year. The growth in sales is largely contributed by States such as Rajasthan, Gujarat, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal and Orissa that broke their own sales record.

The company has recorded an increase of 37 per cent in exports at 367 units against 267 units. Growth in the exports sector has been achieved by a slew of activities including enhancing distribution strength and franchisee reach.

While the tractor division posted record sales, the auto division witnessed marginal rise of 6.7 per cent in overall sales (utility, light commercial vehicle and three-wheelers) at 17,109 units as against 15,675 units. Sales of utility vehicles sales fell down to 11,789 units (12,251 units) and Scorpio to 2,947 units (3,399 units) in the domestic market.
