HC refuses bail to Govind Sarda

Our Legal Correspondent

Kolkata , Nov.1

A Division Bench of the Calcutta High Court comprising Mr Justice D.P. Sengupta and Mr Justice B. Somaddar on Wednesday refused the bail prayer of Mr Govind Sarda, one of the accused in the case pertaining to supply of defective blood test kits to blood banks in the city. The court, however, granted Sarda's bail petition in connection with an alleged FIR filed by two of the employees of Monozyme India Ltd, who are the suppliers of the defective testing kits.

Mr Sarda was arrested in connection with offences such as forgery and cheating also, under the Drugs & Cosmetic Acts and Section 270 of the IPC, for allegedly causing loss of human lives. He was arrested in September last week and the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate remanded him to police custody till November 4.
