Clarification on tax returns

Mr K. Venkataramani, Chief Commissioner of Income-Tax, Mumbai, has refuted reports that income-tax returns filed through post offices may not be processed by the Income-Tax Department. A department press release quoting Mr Venkataramani said, "There is no question of not processing the returns. All steps as required under the Income-Tax Law will be taken to process the returns and ensure follow-up actions such as issue of refunds and demand notices.''
