Mr Y.C. Deveshwar, Chairman of ITC Ltd, has been named the `Business Person of the Year 2006' by UK Trade & Investment, a UK-based organisation, which supports overseas businesses in that country. The honour was conferred on Mr Deveshwar by Prince Andrew, Duke of York, at the India Business Awards ceremony in Mumbai.

The award, according to a company statement, was in recognition of Mr Deveshwar's "significant role in promoting Indo-British business relations", especially as national president of CII in 2005, when Tony Blair's successful EU-India summit was held.
