Meet on SME sector

Our Bureau

Kochi, Nov. 4

The Institute of Small Enterprises and Development (ISED) has expressed concern over the low priorities accorded to small and medium enterprises and livelihoods in public policy platforms under the new globalisation regime. The institute is organising a national conference on `Small and Medium Enterprises and Livelihoods: Towards an agenda for the Eleventh Five Year Plan,' in association with the Planning Commission and the International Network on SMEs in Local Economic Development, during November 27-28. The task of the conference, which is to be held in Thiruvanthapuram, is to identify the key areas of concern for the SME sector such as technology, innovation, trade-regime, gender-issues, local economic development imperatives, finance and other related issues. A special session on regional experience of SME planning will be held on November 28.
