Bangalore , Nov. 5

The Union Finance Minister, Mr P. Chidamabaram, said on Sunday that one of the major concerns of the Government was financing a galloping GDP.

"My concern is how to finance a growing GDP; my concern is financing an economy which will be the third largest in the world in a few years," Mr Chidambaram said at the platinum jubilee celebrations of Vijaya Bank.

He said great emphasis was being led on banking inclusion.

He advised the banks to reach credit and finance to women, students and small entrepreneurs. He pointed out that the poor are not only good savers but are also good borrowers. "They deserve equal respect from all banks," he said.

On the issue of good governance, Mr Chidambaram said what erodes good governance is bad administrative practices and also an indifferent public opinion.
