Tea Fair demand at Coimbatore tea sale Our Bureau
Coimbatore , Nov. 6 Total offerings at the weekly tea auctions swelled to 7.43 lakh kg last week, of which leaf grades accounted for 3.41 lakh kg and the rest of the dust. Market sources said there was fair demand for the orthodox leaf. Select invoices of clean, well-made Nilgiris sold around last week's prices, particularly the primary bolder brokens and larger leaf grades. Others tended easier by Rs 2- 4, with fair withdrawals due to inadequate bids. Exporters to CIS countries lent selective support. HLL showed interest only on selected few lines of larger leaf grades. Bulk of the orthodox dust offerings were absorbed by the internal traders. CTC leaf witnessed less demand. Select few brighter liquoring teas met fair support from upcountry buyers and remained barely steady, others irregular by Rs 2-3 with some withdrawals. Pakistan exporters were less active. Iraq shippers operated selectively at lower end of the market. CTC dust prices for good liquoring popular varieties and mediums saw levels easier by Rs 2 to Rs 3. Orthodox high growns were quoting between Rs 76 and Rs 89, while the good CTC dusts hovered in the Rs 52-56 range.
