Construction work on the new terminal building at the Tiruchi airport will be completed by end of 2007, said the Airport Director, Mr S. Sreekumar.

The expanded runway was ready for commissioning with only the glide path calibration being awaited. The feasibility of extending the runway further up to 12,500 ft from 8,000 ft, was also under consideration, he said in an informal chat with newspersons on the sidelines of the inaugural function of the Vigilance Awareness Week at the airport here.

Earlier, speaking at the function, Mr Sreekumar stated that the Airports Authority of India in association with the Indian would host a customer meet with frequent flyers and passengers using the Tiruchi airport to draw feedback.
