Mumbai, Nov. 7

IndiGo has commenced operating its fourth new Airbus A320 aircraft, commencing daily services from Mumbai to Vadodarawith a same aircraft going to Delhi and returning and flying from Mumbai to Nagpur. IndiGo will be taking delivery of its fifth A320 later this month, with plans to add daily service from Mumbai to Jaipurwith a same aircraft continuing to Delhi and back and doing daily round-trip service from Delhi to Goa. Mr Bruce Ashby, President and CEO of the company, said it plans to add a brand-new A 320 aircraft to its fleet each month this year, with the target of 100 aircraft over the next 10 years. In the next two years, the company expects to add 15 aircraft to its fleet. Mr Ashby said the aircrafts were being taken on operating lease or financial lease and not through outright purchase. The company has no immediate plans to raise equity either through IPO or borrowings as its acquisition mode involved operating or financial lease. "By the end of 2006, we expect that we would have carried 4.75 lakh passengers with six aircraft. Nine more would be added in 2007. We propose to serve about 30 Indian cities by 2010, with a fleet of about 40 A320s," he said.
