Marwari Sammelan adopts code

The All-India Marwari Sammelan has adopted a 9-point code of conduct recommending simpler marriage ceremonies, avoiding ostentation, display of wealth and wasteful expenditure. The code was adopted in Kolkata at a self-introspection camp, titled Chintan Shivir.

The Sammelan, which has expressed concern over declining social and moral values, increasing divorces, lack of respect for elders and break-up of joint families, has decided to launch a number of programmes aimed at social reforms. articipants underlined the need for higher education, interest in art and culture and increased political consciousness, a press note issued here mentioned.
